According to the press centre of the People's Defence Forces (HPG), Turkey continues to use prohibited means of combat in the guerrilla-held Medya Defense Zones in southern Kurdistan (northern Iraq).
"The army of the Republic of Turkey is committing war crimes. Because it considers the Kurdistan Freedom Guerrilla as the biggest obstacle in the policy aiming at genocide against our people, it uses all dirty war methods to achieve results. Since the beginning of this year's invasion on 14 April, banned bombs and chemical weapons have been used thousands of times at the international level. Also on 21 October, the fascist army committed more crimes by attacking our battle positions six times with banned bombs and chemical weapons, four times by fighter jets and dozens of times with howitzers, tanks and heavy weapons. The guerrillas continue their epic resistance and inflict casualties on the invading forces,” said the HPG statement on Saturday.
In the latest guerrilla actions, six soldiers were killed and two surveillance cameras and a military tent were destroyed, said the HPG statement, detailing the actions as follows:
GUERRILLA ACTIONS IN ZAP, XAKURKE AND METINA
According to the HPG's war overview, two soldiers were killed on Friday in an action carried out by mobile guerrilla teams with heavy weapons against the invading forces in the Çemço resistance area in the Zap region. Two surveillance cameras were destroyed in Xakurke.
In the Girê Amêdî resistance area, guerrillas hit a Turkish squad from two flanks with light and semi-automatic weapons at 8.25 am today. In the coordinated action, four soldiers were killed at close range and two soldiers were injured. In addition, a military tent was destroyed.
ATTACKS BY THE TURKISH ARMY
According to the HPG, the Turkish army’s use of prohibited weapons was directed against guerrilla positions in Sîda and Girê Amêdî, while the air strikes affected the area around the Zap shore. Artillery attacks were carried out on Girê Cûdî and in Çemço and Saca. Drones were observed over the Girê Amêdî resistance area. In Karker, the Turkish army continues to try to demolish guerrilla positions with construction machinery.
