The People's Defense Forces (HPG) said a special paramilitary unit of the Turkish army was responsible for the killing of three guerrillas in an ambush in South Kurdistan. The HPG Press Centre said it established this through appropriate investigations.
On Friday, three HPG guerrillas were killed near the small town of Amêdî. According to reports, the group was moving around the area around the village of Guherzê when they were targeted from behind by armed people in civilian clothes. Recordings of the attack were published by the news agency Roj News. In the video, several Turkish-speaking people can be seen on a vehicle with civilian number plates, shooting in the same direction.
The HPG denied rumors circulating on social media that residents of the village were involved in the ambush. The HPG has not yet provided any information on the identities of the guerrillas who died in the attack.
