HPG statement on the operation in Şemdinli

HPG stated that guerillas carried out a sabotage action against the soldiers on an operation in Şemdinli on September 16, and an infiltration action against the soldiers in the Dola Apociya region of Şapatan on September 17.

HPG Media Center issued a statement on the guerilla action against the soldiers that launched an operation in Şemdinli on September 16. HPG stated that guerillas carried out a sabotage action against the soldiers on an operation on September 16, and an infiltration action against the soldiers attempting to encircle HPG fighters in the Dola Apociya region of Şapatan on September 17.

HPG recalled that nearly 8000 soldiers had launched an operation near the regions of Şapatan, Soranser and Serero in Hakkari’s Şemzinan district on September 14 after the announcement of a curfew in these regions. The Turkish army bombarded Geliyê Xumarov, Geliyê Tuyê, Şıkeftanê and Ahmedbendê areas at 20:00 on September 15, and deployed soldiers in these areas at 21:00 with 10 Skorsky helicopters.

HPG stated that guerillas carried out a sabotage action against the soldiers at Tisê, Mirava and Soranser hills between 06:00 and 06:30 on September 16. Guerillas also carried out an infiltration action against the soldiers attempting to encircle HPG fighters in the Dola Apociya region of Şapatan on September 17, and the numbers of dead and injured soldiers have not yet been clarified.

HPG Media Center noted that soldiers in armored vehicles attempted to enter Tisê valley on September 17, and were surrounded by guerillas from 4 different directions. A unit of guerillas hit the vehicles and 5 soldiers were killed, while another group damaged an Ejder armored vehicle. 2 soldiers were killed and 7 soldiers were wounded in the latter action, and the soldiers withdrew from most of the area on September 18. The ID information of the 2 guerillas fell as martyr during these actions will be shared with the public soon.
