HPG: Two Turkish soldiers killed in Heftanin

In Heftanin two soldiers of the Turkish army were killed in a sabotage action of the guerrillas, while in Avaşîn the occupation forces continue to try to penetrate the guerrilla tunnels with chemical weapons and dogs.

The press center of the People's Defense Forces (HPG) released a statement about the latest actions by guerrillas and attacks by the Turkish army in southern Kurdistan (northern Iraq).

Heftanin

On August 15, guerrillas carried out a sabotage action against the Turkish occupation forces who attempted to carry out a road check at Girê Sîser in the Geliye Pisaxa area. Two soldiers were killed in the action.

Avashin

On August 17, the Turkish army used explosives against the underground guerrilla positions at Girê Sor. When the occupation forces tried to advance toward the tunnel in the evening, they were struck by the guerrillas at close range and had to retreat. The Stûnê area was bombed by Turkish attack helicopters on Tuesday evening.

Explosives were used against the tunnel in Werxelê on Tuesday, and chemical weapons were used again yesterday and today. Today at 6:30 a.m., the Turkish army once again sent two dogs with cameras into the tunnel; the dogs were rendered harmless by the guerrillas. Drones continue to circle continuously over the area.

Gare, Zap and Metina

Turkish warplanes bombed the Siyanê area in Gare on August 16 and the area surrounding the village of Çemrobotkî in the Çemankê municipality near Duhok on August 17.

In the Zap region, the areas of Şehîd Şahan, Çemço and Gundê Rençbiraxa were shelled with howitzers from Turkish border posts on Tuesday.

The vicinity of the villages of Êdînê, Dêşîşê and Seraru in the Kanî Masî town near Amadiya, as well as the Kela Qumriyê and Koordîne areas, were bombed by attack helicopters on August 17.
