Reports say the Iranian army bombed HDK and PDK-I’s military bases in Koyê with Katyusha missiles and UAVs today.

The attack started before noon and continues still. Local medical authorities say at least 5 people lost their lives and 30 were wounded. Some of the wounded are in severe condition.

The attack came during a HDK meeting, but there is no more detailed information yet. There are concerns that the number of casualties may increase.

PDK-I sources claimed that the aircraft that carried out the attack took off from Kirkuk and shot artilleries with support from Hashd al Shaabi and other forces close to Iran.

Same sources said this is the third time Eastern Kurdistan forces are bombed by Iran, but didn’t give detailed information on the previous attacks.

Iran’s attack came at a time when the Turkish state has increased its invasion attacks in the region.

The attack also came after the triple summit held by Russia, Iran and Turkey in Tehran on Friday. There is no information on whether the Hewler officers were notified of the attack beforehand.

The Hizba Dêmokrata Kurdistanê-Îran (HDK) had been founded by a group that left the PDK-I in 2006. Although it doesn’t have mass appeal in Eastern Kurdistan, it was accepted into the Socialist International as a full member in November 2015. HDK accused PDK-I of having an extensive relationship with the US, but the two organizations held talks to rejoin in 2012.
