6 people from the same family were killed and 6 more from another family were injured in two attacks by ISIS in the village of Islah, 12 kilometres away from the Gulale district of Xaneqin in the Germiyan region.

One Iraqi soldier was killed and two more injured in an armed clash between the Iraqi forces and ISIS members following the attacks.

The village of Islah is located in forested land near the Sirwan River.

ISIS members have been active in the area since 2014 due to its geographical location.

Despite the presence of Iraqi security forces in the region, ISIS has killed dozens of people from the same village and region before. It is reported that many young people left the region as the living conditions have become difficult due to the ISIS threat.

On May 23, ISIS killed 6 people in an attack on the Xurmatu district of Kirkuk.
