Islamic State kills six villagers in Xurmatû, South Kurdistan

The Islamic State in Xurmatû, in South Kurdistan, attacked villagers while they were working in the fields and murdered six of them. This was followed by fighting between ISIS and Hashd-al-Shaabi.

The Islamic State committed a massacre in Xurmatû in the governorate of Kirkuk.

On Monday, the jihadists attacked farmers working in the fields and killed six of them. The spokesman for the Iraqi People's Mobilization Units (Hashd-al-Shaabi), Ali Hashmi, told RojNews agency that the villagers were working on their fields when they were attacked by ISIS.

After the attack, a unit from the 16th Brigade of the People's Mobilization Units reached the area and clashes with ISIS broke out. According to the Iraqi militia spokesman, the clashes continued into the night.

ISIS has been particularly active in Iraq and Northern and Eastern Syria for months. Analysts see a connection between the Turkish aggression and the attacks by the Turkey-backed jihadist organization.
