Journalist detained in Şırnak earlier today arrested

Journalist Aysel Işık who was detained in Şırnak earlier today, has been arrested.

Journalist Aysel Işık, former reporter for Women's News Agency (JINHA), was taken into custody in the province of Şırnak where a curfew in place since March has just been lifted.

Işık was near HDP MP Aycan İrmez in Yeni neighborhood when special operations police surrounded the area and forced her into an armored vehicle

After procedures at police headquarters, Işık gave her statement at the prosecutor's office, from which she was referred to court with a demand for her arrest.

Citing her social media posts, the court ordered Işık's arrest for alleged “membership to a terrorist organization”.
