Members of the Justice for Roboski Initiative called for solidarity with their struggle.
Members of the Justice for Roboski Initiative gathered to mark 118th month after the massacre that killed 34 people, 19 of whom were children, in a Turkish airstrike in the Roboski village of Şırnak province. “For 118 months, we have been seeking justice together. In the 513 weeks that have passed since, justice has not been served and authorities have remained silent. 3,593 days after the massacre, impunity prevails in the country and justice is missing,” initiative member Tanju Gündüzalp said during the protest held in front of the Human Rights Association (IHD) Ankara Office.
Gündüzalp recalled that no result could be obtained from a parliamentary commission and added, “The judiciary continues to let the perpetrators go unpunished.”
'JUSTICE WON’T BE SECURED IF ROBOSKI REMAINS UNSOLVED'
Gündüzalp noted that a member of the initiative, Kadriye Encü, who lost her son Hamza Encü in the massacre, died a week ago.
“We still remain standing. Our struggle should be embraced and not left alone. Just a week ago, we lost a mother, Kadriye Encü, who once said ‘they both kill our children and judge us’. The murderers of her son were not punished. The perpetrators are protected, as was the case in the massacres in Ankara and Suruç. The government wants to close the files with a policy of impunity. Justice will not be secured in Turkey if there is no fair trial concerning the Roboski massacre. If Roboski remains unsolved, there will be no civilianization or democratization in the country.”
