DBP Co-President Kamuran Yüksek said that state forces attacked both of the basements in Cizre where wounded people had been waiting to be evacuated.
The DBP and HDP delegation that has been trying to reach the wounded people in Cizre but forced to turn back due to obstructions held a press conference in Mardin Metropolitan Municipality regarding the massacre of dozens.
DBP Co-President Kamuran Yüksek said that state forces attacked both of the basements in Cizre where wounded people had been waiting to be evacuated. Yüksek noted that the medics who reached the second basement, where nearly 60 wounded had sought refuge, said that they saw tens of dead bodies. He called upon all peoples to show their most effective democratic reactions to the massacre.
'THE STATE HAS TAKEN THE CHANCE OF ALL OPTIONS INCLUDING MASSACRE'
In his statement, Kamuran Yüksek reminded that the AKP has been in a war alliance with the military, Ergenekon and other factions, and has taken the chance of all options including perpetuating massacres. DBP Co-President said that they had been warning the public and doing everything they could in order to evacuate the tens of wounded civilians in Cizre, but the war alliance only worked towards preventing this evacuation and ensuring the death of the wounded civilians. Yüksek stated that they tried to enter Cizre yesterday in order to put an end to this savagery once and for all, but were prevented by state forces. He confirmed that state forces attacked the two basements in Cudi neighborhood where tens of wounded civilians had been waiting for ambulances.
‘TENS OF DEAD BODIES’
Kamuran Yüksek clarified that one of the basements was where 26 wounded people had sought refuge and 7 of them had died, whereas the other basement was where around 60 wounded people had taken shelter. Today, medics finally reached the basement housing 60 wounded people and said that there were tens of dead bodies in the basement. Yüksek informed the public that the state was planning to carry these dead bodies to Malatya and the staff at Cizre State Hospital had no knowledge about the condition of the wounded people because state forces locked all the staff in one room. Yüksek stated that the state was preventing the flow of accurate information with the aim of distorting the reality on the ground, and state media sources were giving conflicting numbers on the death toll for this purpose. He emphasized that no matter what the death toll was, the state clearly perpetuated a massacre in Cizre.
‘PERPETRATORS WILL BE BROUGHT TO JUSTICE’
Yüksek said that the perpetrators of the massacre would be brought to justice, and called upon Kurdish and other peoples to show their most effective democratic reactions to the massacre. DBP Co-President warned that with this massacre, the state might be testing the waters for worse calamities, and emphasized that they would never forget the massacre of Cizre.
