Below is the April 4 celebration message issued by the KCK Executive Council Co-presidency:

We celebrate the birthday of Leader Öcalan, who has ended the loop of genocide and transformed Kurdish people into a people struggling for its freedom. We renew our promise to crown Öcalan's birth with a free and democratic Kurdistan.

Leader Öcalan has always acted with the responsibility of being a good son of his mother and Kurdistan. Leader Öcalan will make history as one of the few people that do justice to being born into this world. Leader Öcalan has dedicated his entire life to Kurdish people's development of their consciousness, organization and struggle. He has struggled for Kurds to earn a free and democratic life. Kurdish people have become a people fighting for their freedom as a result of this struggle. Kurds are the people that have the strongest passion for a free and democratic life in the Middle East. Leader Öcalan's birth has been the rebirth of Kurdish people because Öcalan has brought Kurdish people to this stage. April 4 has been celebrated as the rebirth of Kurds because Leader Öcalan has enabled Kurds to achieve the gains that they have made so far.

On the brink of genocide in the 1970s, Kurds opened their eyes as Leader Öcalan appeared on the stage of history like Kawa. Leader Öcalan has also helped Kurdish women open their eyes. This is why women embrace Leader Öcalan more than others as they see Leader Öcalan's freedom as their own freedom.
For Kurdish women and people, celebrating Leader Öcalan's birthday is celebrating their own birthday. Kurdish people and women threatened with genocide reached the consciousness of existence as the struggle for freedom and democracy advanced. Once the meaning of Leader Öcalan's birth for Kurds and women is understood, Kurdish people led by women's liberation will earn a free and democratic life. On this basis, we call upon everyone to acknowledge the values that Leader Öcalan's birth have added to Kurds and women, and celebrate this birthday in Amara and everywhere else.
