KCK commemorates Qazi Muhammed and friends

KCK Executive Council Co-presidency commemorated Qazi Muhammed and friends, who were executed in Mahabad 73 years ago, and said: “Their longing, a free Kurdistan, will be real.”

Kurdistan Communities Union (KCK) Executive Council Co-presidency issued a written statement remembering "with gratitude and respect Qazi Muhammed and his friends who were executed in the Carcira Square in Mahabad 73 years ago. Their longing, a free Kurdistan, will be real.”

KCK’s message stressed that the Kurdish Republic in Mahabad had lessons to shed light on future struggles, and continued:

“The Kurdish Republic in Mahabad realized under the lead of Qazi Muhammed is an important part of the Kurdish people’s struggle for national liberation. It has had an effect in the Kurdish people achieving national consciousness, and the lessons it had shed light to future struggles. The Mahabad Kurdish Republic was another victim of the 20th century Middle East system, which also suppressed the resistances led by Sheikh Said and Seyit Riza. The 20th century Middle East political system was based on a Kurdish genocide and was one of the biggest reasons why the Mahabad Kurdish Republic fell. The founder of the 20th century Middle East order, England, had intervened and stood by Iran, playing a determining role in the suppression of the Kurdish Republic.

However, no resistance is in vain. Qazi Muhammed and his friends’ efforts for the freedom of Kurdish people were not in vain either. As long as a leadership emerges to fight for the freedom of Kurdish people, these resistances will have meaning and play the role of accelerating the Kurdish people’s freedom. Led by Leader Apo, PKK has analyzed the political system in the world and in the Middle East well and determined the correct strategy and tactics for the freedom of the Kurdish people. With the ensuing struggle, today Kurds have become a people who determine the political developments in the Middle East. In all parts of Kurdistan and throughout the world, the organization and struggles have created a fighting force that can fulfill the longings of Qazi Muhammed and his friends in all parts of Kurdistan. It is well understood today that the permanency and guarantee of the struggle for freedom in each part comes from the struggle developed in all four parts.

Qazi Muhammed and his friends wanted to realize free Kurdistan within the borders of Iran. As there was no democratic mindset or government in Iran, the country used apparatus of violence and executions against this democratic political solution that would have strengthened Iran as well. But it has been even more clearly understood today that violence cannot suppress the Kurdish people’s desire for freedom. Qazi Muhammed and his friends’ project being updated and put forth on a democratic basis today would be the best path for a democratic Iran and a free Kurdistan. Iran’s unity and strength also clearly lies with this path.

It is abundantly clear that this is the best path for Iran and for Kurds. As such, in the 74th year of Qazi Muhammed and his friends’ execution, we are calling on Iran to take democratic steps to solve the Kurdish issue, and Kurds to create free Kurdistan on the basis of Iran’s democratization, supported by patriotic and democratic forces within Iran, together with Iran’s other peoples.”
