KCK Executive Council Co-presidency issued a written statement to congratulate Nechirvan Barzani for his election as the Bashure Kurdistan Federal President.

The KCK statement said the following: “Bashure (Southern) Kurdistan Federal President has a historic role in ensuring national unity in both Bashur and Kurdistan at large. The president of Federal Kurdistan has a responsibility to represent the Kurds’ will for a free life against Turkey and other forces that object to Kurds’ unity and freedom. We believe the requirements of this role will be fulfilled, with the awareness created by the struggle in four parts of Kurdistan and the truth it uncovered. Nechirvan Barzani’s political experience of decades is at the level to allow him to fulfill this role.

Important gains have been achieved in Bashure Kurdistan. Now it is time to guarantee these gains through achieving political unity on the basis of democratization. The struggle for freedom in all parts of Kurdistan undoubtedly have a determining role in guaranteeing gains achieved in one part of Kurdistan. In this sense, it is important to achieve this democratic awareness and democratization among political powers in all four parts of Kurdistan as well. Kurds have become a leading people in the Middle East with their awareness for democratization. Mr. Nechirvan Barzani fulfilling his duty in making this awareness for democratization in Kurds as well as its stance and structure effective and allowing Kurds to play their role in the democratization of the Middle East will be among the expectations from his presidency.

One of the things the peoples of Kurdistan expect from the federal president of Kurdistan is to take a stand against the invasion attacks in Bashure Kurdistan and all intelligence activity there, no matter what the source is. In this sense, the invasion operation against Xakurke constitutes an attack against his Bashure Kurdistan presidency from the first day, and an invasion operation that weakens this post and disregards the will it represents. We believe Mr. Nechirvan Barzani will stand against such invasion operations that target the Kurdish people’s free and independent life, and that he will respond to this expectation by our people.

Leader Apo has always said Nechirvan Barzani could play a role in the Kurdish people’s struggle for freedom, and asked him to increase his efforts to ensure a free and democratic life for Kurds based on a dignified peace.

At this point when the Kurdish people and the peoples of the Middle East are going through a historic process, we believe Mr. Nechirvan Barzani will fulfill the responsibility that falls on his shoulders and play a role in our people achieving a democratic and free life, and we wish him success during his presidency.”
