Although war of position has been abandoned in order to prevent civilian massacres and destruction of the city, the resistance in Afrin continues, KCK said.
“The resistance fighters who gave a hard time to one of the NATO’s largest armies in a small city shows the freedom will of the Kurdish people and the level of their struggle. It’s impossible to defeat a folk who shows such will of struggle and resistance” co-presidency of KCK’s Executive Committee said in a statement.
Highlighting the resistance in Northern Kurdistan, KCK’s statement said: “An example of genocidal colonialism and the leader of obscurantism in the Middle East, AKP-MHP fascism tries to remain in power through aggression. But its end is getting closer. It’s obvious that a force which carries out psychological warfare and needs virtual victories, has come to the end of its life. The attack on Afrin is the beginning of the end for AKP-MHP fascist government. Our people and all peoples of the world will witness this.”
KCK celebrated Newroz, and said that the Kurdish national festival should be celebrated in all parts of Kurdistan.
“Our struggle and spirit which is raised in Newroz, made Kurdish people into the hope for freedom for all the peoples of the Middle East. Today Kurdish people are stronger and closer to freedom more than ever."
KCK called upon Kurdish people take to the streets in Newroz and unite around the modern Medes Movement and turn Newroz fire -which was first lit by Kawa at the start of the rebellion against the King of Assyria 2630 years ago- into a torch of victory.
