The KCK (Kurdistan Communities Union) Executive Council Co-Presidency issued a written statement on the 8th anniversary of the Rojava Revolution.
The KCK said: “On the 8th anniversary of the Rojava Kurdistan revolution, we remember all the martyrs fallen on the struggle to realize and protect this revolution with gratitude and respect.
The Rojava Revolution, which started in Kobanê on 19 July 2012 and then spread to all Rojava’s cities, has already taken its place in history as the biggest revolution in the Middle East. We salute those who carried out this Revolution once again.”
The KCK statement added: "The Rojava Revolution was based on Abdullah Ocalan’s 20 years of great work in the Middle East and Syria, and the free-woman based, ecological democratic society paradigm. After the Rojava Revolution took place, all reactionary powers, especially the Turkish state, shown their hostility. Middle Eastern despotism and reactionary policy saw their own death with the Rojava Revolution. Mercenaries like al Nusra attacked Serêkaniyê using the support provided by the Turkish government. After these mercenaries were defeated, ISIS attacked the Rojava Revolution, Shengal and South Kurdistan in 2014.”
The KCK continued: “The Rojava Revolution is not only the basis of the democratic revolution in Syria; it is also the foundation of the democratic revolution in the Middle East. The free-woman based democratic system in Rojava is an oasis of freedom and democracy in the Middle East. The Rojava Revolution is primarily a women's revolution. It is the first in the world with this character. The Rojava Revolution has been the forerunner of the 21st century democratic revolutions thanks to its free-woman based line and the Democratic Confederalism system based on organized democratic society. The Rojava Revolution has taken its important place in the history of humanity because it is the first example of a democratic, egalitarian and socialist life not based on government and state to have been put in practice.”
The KCK insisted: “The Rojava Revolution has spread all over Syria today with the Democratic Nation understanding and has become the main basis of the democratization of Syria. This democratic character is under attack by the Turkish state, the most reactionary and fascist power of the Middle East. In this respect, the Rojava Revolution has turned into a war between the peoples of the world and the forces of democracy and the Turkish state. The Rojava Revolution gained the support of the peoples, in this marking a first as no revolution in history had benefited from such a support. Currently, the greatest strength of the Rojava Revolution is the depth and scope of its democratic character and the support of the peoples of the world and the forces of democracy. Having such a strength, the Rojava and the North-East Syrian Revolution will know how to resist, no matter how big the attacks; It will continue to be the hope of the peoples of the Middle East and the world.
The Kurdish people in 4 parts of Kurdistan and the Kurds all over the world stand by the Rojava Revolution. The resistance of the Rojava Revolution is enormous. On this basis, the resisting Rojava and the North-East Syrian Revolution will repel all reactionary attacks and make Syria an exemplary democratic country to the Middle East.”
