KDP bans youths marching for Öcalan from entering Hewler

KDP Asayish obstruct the participants of the Long March from Sulaymaniyah in protest at the February 15 conspiracy from entering Hewler.

KDP Asayish forces obstruct the Long March from Sulaymaniyah to Hewler launched by four youth movements in South Kurdistan on February 10 with the motto "Let us smash the occupation and liberate our Leader with revolutionary revenge" to protest the February 15 conspiracy.

Perwez Rıfat, a member of the march's Organization Committee, spoke to ANF on the talk they had with KDP Asayish officials and said "We had applied to Suleymaniyah Governorate and Asayish for the march before the beginning of our protest. They welcomed it and offered us the support we needed. The people of Sulaymaniyah have also welcomed us enthusiastically so far, just like what Kirkuk Governorate, Asayish and residents did.”

Perwez Rıfat stated that they expect Hewler Governorate and Asayish to show the sensitivity manifested by Sulaymaniyah and Kirkuk officials, adding: “We also applied to Hewler Governorate and Asayish for the march but they denied us permission. All of our protests have been calm, peaceful and positive. We hereby renew our call. We will arrive in Hewler on February 15, tomorrow. We expect our people to join our protest, and we expect Hewler Governorate and Asayish to respond in a way that is similar to allow the demonstration like the Sulaymaniyah and Kirkuk governorates and asayish did.”
