KDP blocks rally for freedom for Öcalan in Hewler

KDP security forces blocked the crowd wanting to enter Hewler for the rally to be held with the demand freedom for the Kurdish People’s Leader Abdullah Öcalan yesterday.

Groups coming from Southern Kurdistan’s Sulaymaniyah, Kirkuk, Germiyan, Şarezor and Raperin regions came together in Kirkuk, met the group coming from Maxmur on the Hewler road and continued on toward Hewler.

But at Pirde security point in the entrance of Hewler, the groups were blocked by KDP security forces.

After representatives spoke to the KDP security officials in the group’s name, the crowd started a sit-in and blocked the road as the officials said they would let just 30 people through.

RJAK member Nazenin Mıhemmed Ali spoke to ANF about the security forces’ ban and said KDP blocking the rally was in support of the Turkish state’s policy of isolation against Öcalan. He said security forces blocked the road with vehicles and excavators, and did not let them through.

Another crowd gathered in Eynkawa Bridge and started marching on 60 meter avenue. Security forces attacked the crowd before the march began, confiscated the sound system brought for the rally and some banners, and injured two protesters.
