Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) officials are creating obstacles for the Êzidîs who want to return from the refugee camps in South Kurdistan back to Shengal.
Citing sources from South Kurdistan, ANHA reported that KDP has closed the road to Shengal and is hindering the return of Êzidî citizens from refugee camps to Shengal, using a wide range of excuses and pretexts.
Accordingly, KDP officials tell the Êzidî citizens who are currently staying in refugee camps in South Kurdistan and desire to return to Shengal, that they needed to obtain the necessary permits from the administrations of the camps they are staying in. However, the camp administrations do not issue permits to these Êzidî citizens and keep telling them to go and come back the following week.
Sources pointed out that the goal is to prevent Êzidîs currently living in camps from returning to Shengal.
The sources also stressed that the KDP authorities are banning particularly the young people from going to Shengal.
