KNK said the Turkish state invaded a large area from Jarablus to Azaz and Afrin to keep Rojava landlocked, and added that they are employing a new strategy against Southern Kurdistan now.
Brussels-based Kurdistan National Congress (KNK) pointed to Turkish invasionism trying to spread in Southern and Western Kurdistan and called on Kurds to raise the alarm to the top levels and put forth a common national stance.
KNK Executive Council issued a statement on the invasion attacks in Xakurke and Southern Kurdistan in general.
The statement said: “The Turkish state has already occupied and annexed Northern Kurdistan. Now they want to spread their invasions to Southern and Western Kurdistan.”
KNK pointed out that checkpoints were set up in Southern Kurdistan first and then the integrity of Rojava Kurdistan was attacked.
KNK said the Turkish state invaded a large area from Jarablus to Azaz and Afrin to keep Rojava landlocked, and added that they are employing a new strategy against Southern Kurdistan now.
KNK said: “With this new invasion move, they want to tear parts of the North (Bakur), East (Rojhilat) and South (Bashur) Kurdistan away from each other and become permanent in Bradost and Xakurke.
The statement added: “These attacks are a dagger through Kurdistan’s heart.” KNK said: “The attacks against Xakurke don’t target the guerrilla alone, they are against all Kurds.”
KNK also pointed out that it is possible the Turkish state will want to spread the occupation from Cizire towards Derik in Rojava and that, together with Afrin, they could surround and control Kurdistan from 3 sides.
KNK said: “It is clear that the threat for all of Kurdistan is great,” and warned that the scenario will become “the bane of Kurds” if it succeeds.
KNK said it is possible to stand against the attacks with national unity: “Against the enemy’s attacks, the urgency of Kurdistan today is to raise the national unity consciousness.”
KNK said the silence inside and out is “concerning”: “Unfortunately, a majority of Southern forces are silent, starting with the Kurdistan Regional Government. This silence encourages the invaders.”
KNK called all national and patriotic dynamics to develop a joint stance and said: “This is a national duty and must be fulfilled today. Tomorrow may be too late.”
