KONGRA-GEL Co-Presidency Council issued a written message on the occasion of Eid al-Fitr, saying, "We celebrate the holy Eid al-Fitr of Leader Apo (Abdullah Öcalan), the people of Kurdistan and the Islamic world. We hope that Eid al-Fitr will be instrumental in the social solidarity of our people, especially in this fate-determining process."

The KONGRA-GEL message further included the following:

"The people of the four parts of Kurdistan are welcoming this holiday under very different conditions. In the last six months, there have been very important developments in Kurdistan and in the international arena within the framework of the international campaign 'Freedom for Abdullah Öcalan, a political solution to the Kurdish question’.

The guerrilla struggle rising on the basis of the physical freedom of Leader Apo, the prison resistance, the 15 February international conspiracy protests, the enthusiasm and excitement that peaked on 8 March and Newroz celebrations defeated the AKP-MHP fascism in the local government elections and started the political collapse process of fascism.

Our people, with the 3rd path strategy they followed in these elections, once again showed everyone that they are an organised pioneering force in the overthrow of the fascist system and the creation of a pluralistic democratic social system in Turkey. 

Our people, who have achieved great success in Kurdistan despite the trustee policies of the AKP-MHP government, should take the Eid visits as an opportunity to further strengthen their social unity.

The spirit of resistance put forward by the people of Van against the coup that Erdoğan fascism wants to stage against the will of our people in these elections should be spread to all areas with Eid visits.

The AKP-MHP fascism is preparing for an intensive war in order to get out of the collapse process it is going through. Since it cannot get results with its own power from the war against the Kurdish people and guerrillas, it is in search of external support. For this, Erdoğan is going door-to-door and opening his hands to everyone. The visits to the Middle East, Europe and the USA are taking place within this framework.

However, the economic collapse caused by the war waged by AKP-MHP fascism against the Kurdish people is so great that no power would risk going under this wreckage. In this sense, we can make 2024 the year of the collapse of fascism and the year of freedom for Rêber Apo and our people. This depends entirely on the struggle to be waged by the forces of democracy, especially our people.

With this belief, enthusiasm and excitement, we once again congratulate the people of Kurdistan and the region on Eid al-Fitr and hope that the holiday will be instrumental in raising the spirit of social solidarity."
