Constituents of Kurdish politics announced that they will launch a campaign tomorrow for the release of arrested representatives of the HDP.
Constituents of Kurdish politics announced that they will launch a campaign tomorrow for the release of arrested representatives of the HDP.
Constituents of Kurdish politics including Democratic Regions' Party (DBP), Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP), Democratic Society Congress (DTK), Free Women's Congress (KJA) and Peace Mothers held a press conference in front of the DTK office in the mainly Kurdish city Amed. A number of people also joined the press briefing.
HDP Ankara MP who was detained and released yesterday stressed that neither repression nor arrests and massacres will be able to obstruct their struggle, saying: “These lands did never bow down and they will never do so. These lands, which the sovereign powers consider a prison for us, are ours and we cannot be intimidated with prisons.”
Responding to the remarks of the Turkish Prime Minister and Justice Minister that HDP deputies must go to court to give their statements, Önder said: "Wasn't it them themselves that announced a short while ago that they did not recognize these courts? They themselves insisted on not going to courts for their own cases. You will not be able to make us bow down like lambs to the slaughter. You may have prevented us today but this wheel of fortune will not go on like this."
HDP MP Önder continued, "We will have a meeting with the Central Executive Board members of the HDP and DBP today. We will draw a new path for us, and gather in front of the DTK tomorrow. Do not ever worry. This struggle and democratic resistance will continue until liberation. We promise you that we will embrace you and keep our struggle going."
Speaking after, DTK Co-chair Leyla Güven stated the followings: "AKP has already made its decision on Kurds. It aims to eliminate the Kurds politically. In 2009, they jailed thousands of people with so-called KCK operations. However, prisons cannot intimidate us. We are giving a struggle from prisons to mountains. HDP is fighting for the people and this is why it became a target of the AKP that aims to massacre the Kurdish people which we will never allow. Sebahat Tuncel was detained but she did not end her resistance and slogans. We congratulate her. Barzani said "Attacks on HDP are unacceptable" but this is not enough. He needs to manifest a clear stance against all attacks targeting Kurds.
We know that TV channels are telling a lie, saying that Kurds are not united and they do not support their representatives. We know that the heart of all Amed people is with us. Kurds rise up everywhere all around the world today. We will never bow down. We can pay further prices if need be. I may not be here tomorrow but I know that you will be here."
