Goran leader holds Barzani responsible for the situation in South

Omar Sayyid Eli, the leader of the Goran Movement in Southern Kurdistan held KDP’s leader Masoud Barzani responsible for the recent losses of Kurds in Iraq.

In an interview, Eli compared today’s loss with the defeat of Kurdish forces against the Iraqi regime in 1975. KDP’s leader at the time, Mustafa Barzani, ended the struggle against Iraq and settled in Iran after the Algiers Agreement in March 1975.

“This defeat is similar to the defeat in 1975. It’s also a result of KDP and PUK’s 25-year government” Eli said.

Eli pointed out that Kurdistan region is going through hard times and added: “this is a result of the referendum which KDP and PUK used for their political interests. And in the end, fifty percent of the Kurdish territory is handed over to the federal government.”

Eli called upon the Kurdish parties to form a Kurdish Salvation Government and said that Goran will act on the demands of Kurdish people.
