Public servants continue to protest Kurdistan Regional Government’s (KRG) decision to cut their salaries for the eighth day.
On Sunday, public servants organized more demonstrations in Arbil, Sulaimaniyah, Halabja, Qaladze, Koya, Rania, Kalar and Khanaqin despite the reduction of the amount which is cut from their salaries.
Protesters who included health care workers and teachers vowed to resume strikes until the austerity measures will be abolished and they get their salaries in full.
Salaries for KRG employees have been plagued by delays since 2014 and Kurdish authorities have repeatedly said they cannot make payments due to the security and economic crises affecting the region.
