Two people detained in Urfa province are denied meeting with their lawyers upon an instruction from the chief prosecutor.
Lawyer Gülhan Kaya from the 'Law Office For the Oppressed' stated that the detention of their clients, Mehmet Ali Genç and Metin Kösemen, was notified to their families via phone.
Kaya stated that Kösemen has been in custody for three days but that they do not have any information as to when Genç was detained.
While both Kösemen and Genç are being held at the anti-terror department of Urfa Police Directorate, lawyers are denied access to both clients on the grounds of “an order from the chief prosecutor”.
Kaya said the detention of their clients at the anti-terror branch has not been declared officially, adding that they are not provided with any information either as to how much longer they will be kept in custody.
