Reactions are growing against the Turkish state that has bombed the Mehmet Karasungur Cemetery of Martyrs in Qandil region of Medya Defense Zones, South Kurdistan for the second time two days ago. The bombardment by Turkish warplanes has entirely demolished the museum of guerrillas and greatly damaged the graves in the cemetery.

As political and social organisations are paying visits to the cemetery following the bombardment, a delegation of lawyers from Kirkuk has also visited the cemetery today and made a statement regarding the attack.

“ÖCALAN'S ISOLATION IS DEFIANT OF LAW AND HUMANITY”

Speaking on behalf of the lawyers' delegation, Hejar Kakayi strongly condemned the airstrike on the cemetery and said the followings:

"To begin with, we as lawyers condemn the Turkish state due to the unlawful isolation imposed on Kurdish People's Leader Mr. Abdullah Öcalan. The Turkish state doesn't allow Mr. Abdullah Öcalan to meet with his lawyers. Such a practice has no place in any law. This is absolutely an unlawful and inhumane practice."

CALL TO SOUTH KURDISTAN AND IRAQI GOVERNMENTS

Hejar Kakayi continued, calling on the governments of Iraq and South Kurdistan to confine the Turkish state in order to not allow further attacks on South Kurdistan, and mainly Qandil. The Turkish state's bombardment of cemeteries is a manifestation of the level it got to. Turkey's violation of South Kurdistan border and airspace has no place in any law. We as lawyers call upon the governments of Iraq and South Kurdistan to heed and answer our call. We are here to condemn this bombardment and to manifest our stance and reaction.”

"EVERYONE SHOULD TAKE A STANCE"

Speaking after, Kurdistan Women's Communities (KJK) Council Member Rewşen Mardin thanked the delegation for their visit and said the followings:

“Lawyers have a major mission with regard to eliminating the unlawfulness imposed on the will and Leader of the Kurdish people today. We attach great importance to the organisation of lawyers to this end.

Prison hunger strikes in North Kurdistan and Turkey continue for over 50 days now. These prisoners are on the verge of death but there is still no remarkable attitude embracing this protest and its participants. Those calling themselves lawyers, human beings and those claiming to have conscience should stand in solidarity with hunger strikes. The lawyers visiting here today could obtain a result should they create a profound organisation against this unlawfulness and take it to international platforms. The deepening of this atrocity and unlawfulness is a result of the isolation imposed on Leader Apo. We attach great importance to the sensitivity and attitude of this delegation, and we extend them our thanks. As lawyers have seen for themselves, the graves of our comrades who sacrificed their lives for Kurdish people's freedom are being bombed. This is a greatest unlawfulness which everyone should take a stance against. We need to step up our struggle against this."

Following the statement, the delegation paid a visit to Tevgera Azadi and met with officials in Qandil.
