After the civilians who went to retrieve the bodies of 4 HPG guerillas that were killed during a Turkish military bombardment in Bagok Mountain began to show signs of eye and nose irritation as well as skin rashes, suspicions of Turkey’s use of chemical weapons increase.

Turkish warplanes had bombarded Bagok Mountain in Şırnak’s Nusaybin district and killed 4 HPG guerillas on February 17. Civilians who entered the region, which had been declared as a ‘special security zone,’ in order to retrieve the guerillas’ bodies began to show signs of eye and nose irritation as well as skin rashes.

'EARTH AND ROCKS HAVE DIFFERENT COLORS’

Nusaybin Municipal Assembly Member Şefik Duman stated that they went to Bagok after a shepherd found dead bodies there, and the earth and rocks they saw around the 4 bodies had different colors, suggesting the use of chemical weapons.

‘IRRITATION IN THE EYE AND NOSE, RASHES ON THE SKIN’

Duman emphasized that he began to develop signs of allergy after retrieving the bodies, and every civilian who went to Bagok began to show signs of irritation in the eye and nose as well as rashes on the skin. Duman noted that the doctors who examined him confirmed the use of chemical weapons, and the villagers living close to the massacre site also began to develop similar symptoms.
