Newroz celebrations in Qandil continue with thousands of people attending. KCK Executive Council has sent a written message to the Newroz celebration. The message read by the KCK Executive Council Member Xebat Hewleri said, “We have torn the old status quo apart through our struggle and created the current situation. Now, the only thing we need to achieve is our unity.”

The KCK message pointed out that the invading powers viewed the Kurdish issue in a holistic manner and that the Kurdish freedom struggle can only be waged in a holistic manner.

KCK’s message read in Newroz celebration in Qandil is as follows:

“Our esteemed people,

We are greeting Newroz 2017 at a time when historic developments are happening in the Middle East and Kurdistan. We salute you all with respect and love, determined to crown this Newroz year, when resistance is peaking in four parts of our country, the passion for freedom floods the streets and the national unity and solidarity sentiment of our people transcends borders, with victory. We embrace our people with love and respect that they have come to Qandil from Southern Kurdistan and all parts of Kurdistan to share the Newroz joy with us the freedom guerrilla.

Our people are going through one of the most critical processes in the history of our resistance. This process offers great opportunities for liberation to our people. If these opportunities are utilized well, by the end of this process our people will be the source of democratization in the Middle East. The enemy is attacking our gains in all parts so this doesn’t come to pass. In this sense, all forces with enmity towards Kurds are acting in complete ‘unity’. The Turkish state and the AKP-Erdoğan government is leading these attacks. The Turkish state isn’t restricted to attacking Northern Kurdistan and our movement, they attack the gains of our people in Rojava, Southern and Eastern Kurdistan as well. Because the Turkish state knows very well that they can’t achieve success in Northern Kurdistan unless they dissolve the struggle and the gains in other parts. The same goes for the Iranian and Syrian regimes as well. These states are also known to not limit their anti-Kurdishness to their own political borders. Undoubtedly, this is a great danger for our people. But what is more dangerous is that some Kurdish forces still see the Kurdish issue as ‘Kurdistanê xweman-Kurdistanê xwetan’ (My Kurdistan-Your Kurdistan). When even our enemies consider the Kurdish issue as a whole, some Kurdish forces handling the Kurdish issue on the basis of fragmentism is a big problem and it is dangerous to the maximum.

The Kurdish issue isn’t only considered in a holistic way by the invading powers. International powers also consider the issue as a whole and this is a great advantage for us. Because this is the first time in history that international powers and colonialist powers are at such odds. The Kurdish issue and the Kurds’ power is at the base of this confrontation. Because we have torn the old status quo apart through our struggle and created the current situation. Now, the only thing we need to achieve is our unity. The enemy is working hard to not have this pass. They are attempting to resurrect co-conspiratorism and betrayal through small promises and bribes. The attacks on Shengal and the Êzidî people are known to have been perpetrated by those who fell for these small promises and bribes. These attacks are clearly seen to be essentially part of the attacks on our gains in all parts. Because of this, people and political powers in all parts have reacted and condemned these attacks. Our people have once again called on the national powers to swiftly achieve national unity, and warned the collaborators that they will be considered part of the enemy if they insist on their approach. Our people and their political powers in all four parts have again shown that they have intertwined their fates and with this united fate they will certainly march to victory, with the joint and sensible stance they displayed against the Shengal attack. They have shouted out loud in Newroz grounds that those who join their fate with the enemy will be condemned to defeat along with the enemy. We as a movement state that we will always stand with our people’s demands, insight and struggle and promise to carry the will to struggle that emerged in Newroz 2017 to victory.”
