As a result of the Turkish state's use of chemical weapons, many guerrillas fell as martyrs, especially in Avaşîn, Zap and Garê.
Shengal mothers commemorated the martyrs of Kurdistan and expressed their condolences to their families. They condemned the Turkish state's use of chemical weapons in the mountains of Kurdistan for 6 months.
Şemê Remo said that the Turkish state resorted to chemical weapons because it could not fight against the guerrillas and added: "Since the Turkish state cannot fight the guerrillas, it resorts to many dirty methods, including chemical weapons. While using chemical weapons in the mountains of Kurdistan, it drops bombs on the people in Rojava, Shengal and Maxmur. However, the people who believe in Rêber Apo's [Abdullah Öcalan] ideas and ideology are countering these attacks even more. Our anger grows when the Turkish state attacks any part of our country and our children. We will avenge our martyrs and fulfil their dreams."
"International institutions should condemn Turkey"
Mother Remo said: "The UN and international institutions have become deaf and dumb against chemical weapons. Everyone knows that the use of these weapons is prohibited in the world. But they remained silent and thus allowed the Turkish state to go ahead with its attacks. We call on all states that stand for human rights to investigate the areas where chemical weapons were used and expose the Turkish state. As Yazidi women, we do not accept this unjust war."
"Guerrillas cannot be defeated"
Another mother, Kinê Xidir also expressed her anger at the Turkish state's use of chemical weapons and said: "What the Turkish state has done is immoral. Despite the air attacks on Zap, Metîna and Avaşîn, the Turkish state could not defeat the guerrilla resistance. The Turkish state should know that the fighters of Serok Apo will never be defeated. All states are talking about human rights, but the Turkish state has been killing our children with chemical weapons for 6 months, and no one speaks. International states turn a blind eye to the Turkish state's use of chemical weapons. As Shengal people, as Shengal mothers, we call on everyone who is committed to human rights to react against chemical weapons."
