Following the recent imprisonment of Co-mayor of Amed's Kocaköy district, Affüllah Kar, district governor Yusuf Tarhan has been appointed trustee to the municipality today.

Affüllah Kar wasinto custody on January 28 as result of a police operation. He was formally arrested on February 3 on charges of “membership to a terrorist organisation”. Kar had previously been stripped of his authorities as district co-mayor in the scope of an investigation run by Diyarbakır Public Prosecutor's Office.

On the other hand, co-mayors of Görümlü town in Şırnak's Silopi district, Abdulgaffur Rüzgar and Süheyla Büngül have been taken into custody as result of house raids this morning. The co-mayors were taken to Silopi District Gendarmerie Command.
