Tank and artillery strikes by state forces have begun early this morning, also targeting the area where nearly 200 civilians remain trapped in basements of buildings under fire. These include babies, children and elderly from whom no news has been received today.
A large number of armored vehicles have been dispatched to the district which is also witnessing an intense activity of Turkish helicopters.
