Northern Syria Democratic Federal System Executive Council held a meeting for the election of co-chairs and committees yesterday. The meeting at TEV-DEM building was attended by Executive Council members, intellectuals and local people.
Speaking here, Northern Syria Democratic Federal System Executive Council Member Foza Yûsif evaluated the political and military developments in the region.
Congratulating the anniversary of the declaration of Democratic Autonomy Administration for the martyrs, freedom fighters and peoples of Northern Syria, Yûsif recalled that the Democratic Autonomy Administration had been declared in challenging circumstances, adding: "Northern Syria peoples provided major contribution to autonomy. At the same time, our defense forces contributed greatly to the achievement of the Democratic Autonomy Administration by fulfilling their mission against the attacks targeting the lands of Rojava. Democratic Autonomy Administration formed the basis of the gains of Rojava peoples and the Northern Syria Democratic Federal System.”
Regarding the Astana talks on Syria led by Iran, Turkey and Russia, Yûsif said the Astana meeting will fail like the Geneva talks due to the non-participation of democratic forces.
Referring to the ongoing operation to liberate Raqqa from ISIS occupation, Yûsif pointed out that the the forces partaking in the Operation Wrath of Euphrates are making major gains against ISIS gangs and have liberated many territories from ISIS gangs.
Following the speech, Foza Yûsif and Senherîb Birsûm were elected co-chairs of the Northern Syria Democratic Federal System Executive Council.
Committees of Press, Work Observation and Diplomatic Relations were also formed during the meeting.
