According to initial reports by local sources, a blast hit a military convoy heading from Amed to Mardin earlier today. 1 special operations police died and 3 others got injured as a result of the explosion after which ambulances were rushed to the scene and the road was closed to traffic.

Reports of armed confrontation are also coming through from the area.
