One youth has been killed in Gever (Yüksekova) district of Hakkari where attacks by state forces continue since late yesterday.

Turkish military and police forces have started an aggression on Esentepe, Esenyurt and Güngör neighborhoods last night in the wake of mortar attacks ongoing since Wednesday evening.

While the mentioned areas have been targeted by heavy arms from armored vehicles, Efeler Battalion continue to conduct mortar strikes against Esentepe and Esenyurt neighborhoods.

As people took to the streets to protest the attacks, a youth by the name of Osman Alıcı was killed as a result of the aggression on Esentepe neighborhood. Residents have carried the youth's body into a house. In the meantime, armored vehicles continue to attack the neighborhood, to which people respond with resistance.

Last night's mortar attacks by state forces targeted the neighborhoods of Orman, Eski Kışla, Dize, Mezarlık, Güngör, Zagroz (Cumhuriyet), Esentepe and Esenyurt. Many houses were hit by mortar shells which fortunately didn't result in casualties but greatly damaged the houses.

Civilian Defense Units YPS and its women's branch YPS-Jin have started to mount resistance against Turkish forces that are attempting to enter Güngör neighborhood with armored vehicles.
