Panahi’s nephew ends his life after the execution order

After it was announced that Ramin Hossein Panahi will be executed, his nephew Nîştiman Hossein Panahi hanged himself.

Kurdish political prisoner Ramin Hossein Panahi’s brother Emced Hossein Panahi issued a statement yesterday and said: “My brother was moved to a solitary cell today. According to the court’s decision, my brother will be executed on Thursday.”

Panahi is currently held in the Sine Prison. Shortly after it was announced that he will be executed on Thursday by the Iranian regime forces, Panahi’s nephew Nîştiman Hossein Panahi hanged himself.

Nîştiman Hossein Panahi’s body was taken to the Sine Hospital Morgue yesterday, and in the morning his family received the body to be buried in the Sine province.

SENTENCED TO DEATH IN 2017

Panahi, originally from Sine, was captured in a wounded state on Jun 23, 2017. He was tortured for days and was sentenced to death for “defying Allah and being a member to an armed organization” in the court he was heard at months later.

REACTIONS GROW

Many organizations and NGOs issued statements calling on the Iranian regime to stop the execution at once, but the regime has not responded.

Campaigns have been launched on social media with the hashtag #RaminHoseinPanahi to demand a stay of execution.
