People and guerrillas celebrate Eid in Qandil

Local people and guerrillas have celebrated Eid Al-Fitr in Qandil. The event witnessed calls for unity among Kurds and the gathering of a National Congress.

Locals and HPG/YJA-Star guerrillas gathering under the representation of Tevgera Azadi visited the Martyrs' Cemetery as part of an Eid Al-Fitr event in Qandil. KONGRA GEL co-president Hacer Zagros who spoke here voiced wishes for peace in the Middle East and the world on occasion of the Eid, and wished a happy Eid to Kurdish leader Abdullah Öcalan, Kurdish people and the freedom fighters resisting in the battle front.

Zagros condemned the ISIS massacres in Baghdad and Hesekê, saying; “I believe this will be an Eid of freedom and peace in the Middle East and the world, and success of peoples against hegemonic powers”.

Zagros continued, calling for a further struggle for the freedom of Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan, saying; "I am addressing these remarks to all Kurdish parties and NGOs; national unity is the only thing needed for the future and status of Kurds. Kurds do have no other alternative. I am calling upon the Kurdish people in four parts of Kurdistan and other places to stage more active works and more political demonstrations for Leader Apo's freedom which means the freedom of Kurds, Middle East and all peoples."

Speaking after, local civilian Mihemmed Osman also called for unity against the enemies of the Kurdish people, and condemned the Turkish state's aerial strikes on Qandil and other locations in North Kurdistan. Osman emphasised that the Kurdish people are a honorable folk and will never give up on their freedom and struggle.

"No matter how much bombardment they carry out, we will never abandon our lands", he added.
