Speaking to Rojava-based Hawar News Agency (ANHA), citizens living in Nesriyê, Qera Baba and Belalîko villages condemned attacks by the invading Turkish army and stated that Turkey targets civilians and homes.
Diyab Mihemed, a member of the Arab community, said that the Turkish army has been shelling their villages and targeting civilians for days and added: “The people resist the Turkish army’s shelling and won’t leave their villages.”
S. X. from Nesriye village who wishes to remain anonymous said: “Turkey’s goal is to force people to move out. This morning while we were on our way home, the Turkish army knowingly opened fire on us with DShK weapons.”
Casim Xelîl from Nesriye village said there are nobody but civilians in the village, there is no military base in the village and that the Turkish army is bombing civilian zones.
Mihemed Hisên said their plots were damaged by the artillery fire of the the invading Turkish army and that they couldn’t go near their own fields.
Sebhî Salih from Nesriye village said: “Farmers who have plots close to the border can’t go near them. Dozens of farmers can’t go to take care of their crop or to water them. All the produce is damaged.”
Selahedîn Mihemed from Belalîko village in the Raco district said the Turkish soldiers bombed Belalîko, Qere Baba, Firfirik and Hecîko villages and that bombs fell close to the homes, and citizens barely got out alive.
Rênas Miho from Belalîko village said the following on the artillery fire by the Turkish state: “The Turkish army bombed a village 3 km from us. We had to bury our dead under artillery fire. The Turkish state is trying to push us out of our villages. Whatever happens, we won’t leave.”
Ehmed Casim from Qere Baba village and the Arab community said: “The Turkish army bombed our village with tanks, rockets and artilleries. Minutes after we left the house to protect ourselves from the bombs, a mortar shell hit our home and it is now unusable.” Casim said more than 50 mortar shells landed in the village.
Hacer Miho from Qere Baba village said the invading Turkish army targeted villagers for no reason and added: “We have military forces who can protect us. We will support them and we will never go back.”
The Turkish army shelled villages in Cindirêsê, Raco, Shiyê and Mobata districts with mortars and rockets on March 21 and 4 civilians were wounded. Homes and plots of land have also suffered serious damage.
