People of Van march to Gever to break the siege

Hundreds of people are marching from Van province to Hakkari's Gever (Yüksekova) district in order to end the siege by state forces ongoing for the 11th day.

Hundreds of people in Van province have responded to the calls of HDP, DBP, KJA and KURDÎ-DER, and began to march to Gever in order to end the state forces’ 11 days-long genocidal siege and attacks.

The protestors gathered in front of Nuda Culture and Arts Center in İpekyolu district’s Hacıbekir neighborhood, and the police prevented HDP parliamentarian Tuğba Hezer and other protestors from leaving the city. During the ID control here, police took Mehmet Kartal and Havar Duman into custody. The police also threatened the journalists who were filming their intervention, and said that anyone who publishes photos or footage of the scene would pay for their acts.

Civilians also gathered in front of the DBP building in Başkale district, from where they will begin their march to Gever.
