Martyr Rüstem Cudi (Maxmur) Camp People's Council has sent a letter to the Northern and Eastern Syrian Autonomous Administration about the coronavirus emergency.
The letter sent by the People's Council in Maxmur said: "Like all the peoples of the world, we are going through a difficult period. However, because of the war and intense attacks, our situation is different from other peoples. We face many challenges in this difficult period. Today, our people in the four parts of Kurdistan are in danger. To the attacks faced by the four parts of Kurdistan we now have to add the coronavirus emergency."
The letter continued: "As people in Maxmur we face the difficulties that the Kurdish people face. On the one hand, there is a security problem in our region represented by ISIS, and on the other hand, an embargo has been imposed on our people for months.
The coronavirus pandemic poses an additional great danger to our people and we face vital problems. Our problems and difficulties are increasing by the day and we cannot find a solution to this situation. The ban imposed on entry and exit from the camp, the embargo imposed on us, and the lack of help from anywhere, cause us great concern.
We have great difficulties both economically and in meeting our basic needs as well as our health needs. Kurdish organizations and their circles are the ones who need to help us to overcome this difficult process and to meet the needs of our people."
The letter added: "We salute the Health Institution of Rojava Kurdistan (North and East Syrian Health Committee) and its work on the coronavirus detection carried out together with a Swedish institution. We call the North and East Syria Autonomous Administration and Health Committee to deliver the coronavirus test kits they have developed to the Maxmur Health Institution and support us."
The People's Council in Maxmur said: "We need solidarity and unity to overcome the obstacles that sovereign states pose in front of us. The biggest challenge we face and experience today is not just the emerging virus outbreak. The difficulties that reckless governments pose by violating international law are the greatest human virus."
