Overcapacity problem in Şırnak State Hospital's morgue is causing further violations of rights against civilians murder by state forces in Cizre and Silopi.
Dozens of civilians have been killed by state forces committing atrocity against the people in Cizre and Silopi districts of Şırnak for the 17th uninterrupted day. Their bodies are being held in Şırnak State Hospital's morgue which is already overcrowded by now.
As some other bodies that didn't fit in the morgue due to a lack of place have started to rotten, bodies of 14 have been held in the hospital's canteen cellar for days. Some of these have already begun to rot.
While the overcapacity problem in the hospital is leading to further violations of rights, Şırnak police directorate yesterday called some families in Cizre, ordering them to take the bodies and bury them somewhere, saying "Otherwise,we'll bury them".
Earlier today, police have abducted bodies of 8 civilians and took them back to Cizre and Silopi unbeknownst to their families.
In a statement to the press outside the hospital morgue, HDP Urfa MP Osman Baydemir, accompanied by HDP Batman MP Ayşe Acar Başaran, described the abduction of the bodies as a war crime and torture.
Responding to today's statement by Şırnak Governorship which claimed that "PKK supporters aren't allowing funerals", Baydemir said this remark went against the reality and involved manipulation.
Baydemir reported that out of the 8 bodies unlawfully abducted by police today, 7 have been taken to Cizre and 1 to Silopi. He said the identity of these people weren't announced.
HDP MP added that bodies of 8 more civilians are being held in Şırnak State Hospital's morgue at the moment.
