The AKP regime of Turkey continues its attacks against the Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) during the election campaign ahead of June 24 elections.
Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) Co-chair Sezai Temelli went to Ceylanpınar district of Urfa on Tuesday to attend a public meeting. While the HDP delegation was chased by police forces with armored vehicles after they entered the district, the police furthermore stopped all the vehicles joining the HDP convoy and recorded everyone who welcomed the HDP delegation on camera.
Turkish police also prevented the activity organized by the HDP in the district days ago, despite the fact that all the necessary permissions for the event had been taken from authorities.
Following a series of talks with the governor and district governor’s offices, HDP was allowed to make a 15-minute program.
Riot police with water cannons and armored vehicles were deployed around the area where HDP Co-chair Sezai Temelli spoke.
Following Temelli’s speech, police arbitrarily attacked the mass with tear gas and detained two people. HDP MP candidates were also subjected to police violence as they tried to prevent the detentions.
Police forces then attacked the HDP election office on Viranşehir road, to which people responded by chanting slogans.
