Police murder a woman in Kızıltepe

People in Kızıltepe district of Mardin were hindered and attacked by police yesterday evening as they started a march to Özgürlük (Freedom) Square in protest at the onslaught by state forces across the Kurdish region.

Following the crackdown in town centre, police forces also attacked people in Mezopotamya and Berçem neighborhoods as clashes spread across the town upon the response of demonstrators.

Attacks by police have reportedly left a woman dead in Berçem neighborhood. ID of the woman was not immediately clear.

In Mezopotamya neighborhood, police blockaded a house in which Kızıltepe co-mayors İsmail Ası and Leyla Salman were on a visit of patient. Many were reported detained amid the heavy blockade in both neighborhoods.
