In Cizre district of Şırnak which remains under a heavy onslaught for 16 days, deliberate and arbitrary attacks by state forces are claiming more civilian lives every passing day.

As the aggression on Nur neighborhood has once again intensified as of this morning, civilian Hacı Oğun (60) was shot by police soon after going out of his house as he meant to go to mosque for prayer. The man has been shot by a bullet in the shoulder.

Heavy tank and artillery attacks on Nur and Cudi neighborhoods lasted throughout last night. Many civilian cars targeted by tanks on İdil Street burned down and became unusable. Tank attacks on civilian areas also left many houses on fire.

Both neighborhoods are being targeted with tanks and heavy arms from four directions; Tank Battalion, Hill Aşk, area of flour plant and police lodging building since early this morning.

In response to uninterrupted and intensified attacks, popular resistance in the areas of self-rule also endures ceaselessly. People in other neighborhoods in the meantime protest the state terror and show solidarity with the fight against state forces.
