At least 12 people were taken into custody in police raids carried out simultaneously on many houses in Amed and Batman early this morning.
Police raided several houses early on Wednesday morning in the cities of Amed and Batman.
People's Equality Democracy Party (DEM Party) Youth Council Member and university students Peyam Kutlu, Berivan Nergiz, Eyüp Hekimoğlu, Hêja Jiyan Arıkboğa, Yusuf Yokuş and Yusuf Taşcar were taken into custody during house raids carried out by police in Bağlar (Rezan) in Amed.
Hêja Jiyan Arıkboğa, one of those taken into custody, was released from Diyarbakır Women's Closed Prison last 4 December. Arıkboğa's release had been arbitrarily postponed twice over the course of ten months.
Batman
After raids in Batman (Êlih), 6 people were detained: Halil Yıldırım, Adnan Vural, Hamza Karaman, Kadir Nebioğlu, Samet Aravi and Diyar Yarma. It was learned that there were arrest and detention warrants for 8 more people.
