Police violence against deputies and reporters in Nusaybin

Police obstructed, insulted and battered women and journalists after they entered Mardin's Nusaybin district which remains under siege for 128 days.

Some 60 women who include DTK co-chair Leyla Güven, HDP MPs Leyla Birlik and Gülser Yıldırım gathered outside HDP Mardin office and left for Nusaybin district for an examination after the official announcement by Mardin Governorate that the curfew in force since March 14 would be lifted partially today.

The women left with 10 cars and they were stopped by police forces after entering the Kışla neighborhood of Nusaybin district. Police teams stopped the group who are accompanied by reporters for DIHA and ANF, forced all of them get off the cars and lined them up against the wall amid insults and physical violence.

Police teams have gathered the ID cards of everyone and performing criminal record check at the moment as all the 60 people remain up against the wall. The cars and bags of the women and journalists are also being searched.
