SEVERAL DETAINMENTS IN AMED AND ITS DISTRICTS

Police officers detained Bismil Municipality worker Alaattin Öndeş (22) during a house raid in the Sanayi Mahallesi of Amed’s Bismil district at 03:00. Police took the neighborhood under siege with armored vehicles and damaged people’s property during the house raids. The reason for Öndeş’s arrest remains unknown, and Öndeş was taken to the District Police Headquarters.

Mehmet Albay, Halim Turan, M. Mehdi Biçimli, Hamo Özmen, Mehmet Karadeniz, Mahsum Söylemez, Şahin Tiryaki, Municipal Assembly members M. Hadi Çelik and Fehime Ete had been detained during the house raids in Bismil on August 12, and are still being held in the District Police Headquarters.

Ergani Municipality worker Kenan Kor and former DBP District Administrator M. Ali Özoğlu were detained in the marketplace of Amed’s Ergani district. Police raided Özoğlu’s house and took Kor and Özoğlu were taken to the District Police Headquarters.

Police officers raided houses in Amed’s Çermik district last night, detained DBP District administrators Mehmet Şah Kılıç and Abbas Karakoyun, Çermik Municipality Assembly member İbrahim Halil Şimşek and Cuma Dalkılıç without any explanation, and took the detainees to the District Police Headquarters. 4 more houses were raided during the operation, but the civilians sought after were not found in the houses.

Amed City Council employee Zelal Ölçen was detained during house raids in Amed’s Bağlar district this morning. Police confiscated the books and computer of Ölçen, who has been charged with “being member of an organization” and taken to Diyarbakır Anti-Terror Police Headquarters. Police also detained Lice Newspaper reporter Metin Bekiroğlu, Serdar Bayram, İdris Özbahçıvan, Ali Kasap, Erdal Yıldırım and 2 other people during the house raids in Lice last night, and took the detainees to the District Police Headquarters.

Due to the high number of detainments, Diyarbakır Police Headquarters are full and some of the detainees have been taken to the jails of other police stations in the city.

17 people were detained during the house raids in Silvan last night, and the names of the 8 of these 17 people were reached recently: Recep Gündüz, Tarık Ekmen, Remzi Akar, Faysal Korkmaz, Eyüp Kara, Kasım Yılan, Hakkı Yetişkin and Pınar Fidan.

The public prosecutor banned the detainees from meeting with anyone for 5 days, and the 17 people held at the District Police Headquarters received medical examination not at the hospital but at the police station.

ANKARA 

Ankara Public Prosecutor Tekin Küçük ordered the police to raid the houses of members of political parties and associations in the Tuzluçayır region of Ankara’s Mamak district, and 8 people were detained during the raids. Yetkin Kılıç, Fırat Yalçın, Paşa Mert, Mert Altaş, Şafak Gül and the other detainees were accused of carrying out actions on August 15.
Lawyer Rıza Yalçık Koçak was present during the house raid of Yektin Kılıç and said that legal books and private photos were confiscated and the list of the detainees were not shown to the lawyers.


İSTANBUL 

Police raided the houses of many Kurdish families in İstanbul’s Sultangazi district this morning, and detained Ferit Ürün, Ramazan Aydinç, Celal Şen, Yunus Eten and several other civilians during the raids.

Police officers shot fires at a car that they accused of not stopping despite police warnings, and one young person was wounded and taken to the hospital. Police detained the other 4 people in the car.
