President of parliament Dr. Yusif Mihemed held a press conference on Tuesday morning and announced his resignation from his post.
Mihemed is known for his opposition to ruling parties of Southern Kurdistan. Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) prevented him from travelling to Arbil on October 12, 2015, when Barzani shut down the parliament to extend his term as a president.
Mihemed is a member of Gorran (Change) Movement. Gorran recently decided to leave the Kurdistan Regional Government along with Kurdistan Islamic Society.
