An attack was carried out at night on the Kormor gas field belonging to Dana Gas Oil Company in the Chamchamal district of Sulaymaniyah. Security sources reported that Katyusha type missiles were used in the attack. No one has yet claimed responsibility for the attack.
Dana Gas Company said in a statement that gas production stopped after the attack.
The Ministry of Electricity of the Kurdistan Region announced that electricity production also stopped due to the stop of gas production. The Ministry reported that there was a loss of 2800 megawatts due to the stoppage of the flow.
The gas production in Kormor and Çemçemal is carried out by Dana Gas company based in the United Arab Emirates. The Kormor field was established in 2007 and gas production started a year later. Kormor was also the target of attacks in 2022 and 2023.
