Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) Spokesperson Ehmed Sadi Pire made an announcement after the meeting the party held in Sulaymaniyah today and said the party’s candidate for the Iraqi Presidency is Dr. Berhem Salih.

Pire said Salih received the most votes in the meeting and that he will be nominated as the official presidential candidate for the PUK.

WHO IS DR. BERHEM SALIH?

Dr. Berhem Salih was born in Sulaymaniyah on September 12, 1960. He has served in high ranking positions in the PUK, and as the Regional Prime Minister of Southern Kurdistan. Salih left the PUK after Mam Jalal’s passing, and led the Democracy and Justice Coalition.
