Resistance of Öcalan saluted in Girkê Legê

Intellectuals and political parties in Girkê Legê city of Rojava saluted Abdullah Öcalan's resistance on the 18th anniversary of the international conspiracy against the Kurdish People's Leader.

Girkê Legê Union of Intellectuals organised an event to mark the 18th anniversary of the international conspiracy against Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan. The event was attended by dozens of intellectuals in addition to representatives of political parties and NGOs.

Speaking here, Union of Intellectuals Administrator Biradost Mîtanî condemned the international conspiracy and saluted Öcalan's resistance.

Union Member Ebdulhelim Ehmed who spoke later stressed that Öcalan's ideas were put into practice as principles of co-existence and enabled a fraternity of peoples, noting that this progress would be consolidated by efforts for the establishments of a federation in the region.

Speaking after, Syriac Cultural Association Member Josef Lehdo said: "Leader Apo advanced democracy on the basis of a new principle and presented freedom to the society in the most correct manner."

Lehdo's statement was followed by poems read by poets Ezedîn Silêman, Laleş Heybet, Husên Hibo, Seîd Yusif and Reşîd El-Zubêdî in praise of Öcalan and his resistance.

Representatives of the political parties in Girkê Legê also gathered at the PYD office and made a statement on February 15 conspiracy.

The statement was joined by representatives of Kurdistan Communinst Party, Party of Syrian Kurds' Union, Green Party, Kurdish Democratic Left Party, Kurdistan Democratic Innovation Party, Lİberals Union, Kurdish Democratic Peace Party, PYD and Syriac Cultural Association.

The joint statement read by Kurdistan Communist Party Member Rohat Omer who described February 15 as a dark day, and pointed out that: "The gains made in Rojava and Northern Syria, building of Democratic Autonomous Administration and victories of freedom fighters were realized basing on the philosophy of Leader Apo. We hereby call upon the international community to act for the physical freedom of Öcalan."
