Roboskî Association shut down by the government

Roboskî Association founded by families of the Roboski victims has been shut down by the AKP government.

'Justice For Roboski, Peace for the Earth' Association, which was opened by families of the 34 people killed in Roboski massacre 5 years ago, has been shut down and sealed in line with a decision of the Interior Ministry.

Association President Veli Encü, who lost many relatives of his in the massacre by Turkish jets on December 28, 2011 in Roboski village of Şırnak's Uludere district, recalled that the association had been founded to demand the trial and punishment of the perpetrators of the massacre.

Encü said the association has been shut down for alleged “terrorist activities”, stressing that the state did not punish the perpetrators but subjected the Roboski families to further pressure and arrests instead as they continued their efforts for justice to be done.

Encü emphasized that their struggle will not end now that their association has been shut down, adding that mothers of the victims will be relieved once the perpetrators of the crimes against humanity are punished.

He vowed that these methods will not be able to intimidate them.
